Thuso Nokwanda Mbedu is a South African actress. She gained recognition for her outstanding performance in the South African teen drama series, Is’Thunzi, which earned her consecutive nominations for an International Emmy in 2017 and 2018.

Age

She was born on 8 July 1991 in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, at the Midlands Medical Centre. (Age 32, as of 2023).

Mbedu’s multicultural name reflects her diverse background, with a Zulu mother and a father of Xhosa and Sotho descent.

Following the early passing of both her parents, she was raised by her Zulu grandmother in the Pelham area, who also became her legal guardian.

Education

After attending Pelham Primary School and Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School, Mbedu pursued higher education at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), where she studied Physical Theatre and Performing
